Who can join AAPL?

Membership shall be reserved for members of a healthcare practice, hospital, or network delivery system who serve in physician liaison, sales, business development, marketing or/and non-vendor roles that interact regularly with health care providers. Physician Liaisons are defined as: employees of a healthcare practice, hospital or network who communicate between two or more groups in cooperation of working together for the purpose of generating new physician referrals, establishing long-term business relationships, developing and leading specific account strategies, managing all aspects of new referral activities, account retention and growth.

How much are dues? 

Remember, AAPL is the only professional association dedicated to, and run by, Physician Liaisons.  This is the organization that will help you develop the most throughout your career.  The dues are $185, a mere investment of less than $15 per month.


How can I join and pay?

Go to www.physicianliaison.com and click “Join.”  Enter your demographic information and continue on through until the payment process.  If you wish to pay by credit card, continue with “Online Payment.”  If you need to print an invoice and provide it to your administrator or director, click “Print Invoice” and mail in your payment along with a copy of the invoice.  The membership system will send you automatic reminders until your membership is paid.  You will not become an official member until payment is received by credit card, or by mail at AAPL Headquarters.

What are the benefits of membership?

The benefits of AAPL members are multifold:

  • Discounted registration for the Annual Conference and regional networking meetings.
  • Free registration for the webinar series (10 per year).
  • Access to the members’ only website section that includes:  Resources Library with sample job descriptions, onboarding checklists, tools and best practices.  Job openings for those interested in changing jobs or locations.
  • Networking building.  Having a vast network of peers within your region, and also nationwide, has proven to be the #1 reason members join AAPL.  There is an online real-time membership directory that can be searched by name, city, state, facility type and more. 
  • Availability of educational programming designed by liaisons, for liaisons, whether that be the annual conference, regional meetings, or webinars.  Who better to know exactly the needs of physician liaisons than your peers? 

Who are members of AAPL?

AAPL membership reached 600 in 2017.  Members come from large health systems with intricate networks of hospitals, Community hospitals, Children’s hospitals, Independent free-standing facilities such as vein clinics, dermatology centers, and more. 

How can I become involved with AAPL?

AAPL has a Board of Directors comprised of up to 10 physician liaison members.  This group is the strategic body of the organization.  AAPL also has 5 committees in which members can participate and become involved:  Program Planning, Communications (social media), Membership, Mentoring/Liaison Connect, and Webinar.  If you have skills or interest in a particular area, join that committee.  If you want to enhance your skills and learn new ones, go outside the box and volunteer for a committee that will allow you to gain new experiences.  The best part of participating in the Board or on a committee are the friendships you make and your ability to immediately expand your peer network.



When is the AAPL Annual Conference?

The AAPL Conference is held every year in June.
