2024 Call for presenters

Hello, fellow American Association of Physician Liaison (AAPL) colleagues! It's that time of year again; we are now accepting presentation proposals for our 2024 AAPL Annual Conference, which will take place June 12-14 in Long Beach, California.

Each year, the AAPL invites Physician Liaisons from across the country to share their best practices, insights, and work experiences. Whether you've been in your position for years, lead a team, or are new to the Physician Liaison world, we want to hear from you! Please take a moment to review the AAPL conference goals and what we are looking for in a speaker to help you prepare your proposal.

The deadline to submit your proposal is Wednesday, December 6, 2023.

Conference Goals

The AAPL Annual Conference is your chance to network, share ideas, and receive insight and direction on the ever-changing Physician Liaison role while celebrating the dynamics of being a Physician Liaison in a positive, like-minded, and diverse environment.

Conference topics and networking opportunities directly result from your feedback, our AAPL colleagues. Our membership is our most vital resource and asset. We lean on each of you to help us deliver a robust annual conference full of relevant and meaningful topics. Whether you are a new Physician Liaison, a seasoned Physician Liaison, and a Program Manager/Director, sharing your perspective and experience makes this annual conference one of the most anticipated conferences in the Physician Liaison industry.

Our goal is to allow you to connect and learn from one another. You will have the chance to compare notes on industry trends, best practices, future insights into the Physician Liaison career path, and all things needed to be successful while making an immediate impact when you return to your organization.

Diverse Group of Speakers


We welcome first-time liaisons, industry experts, and everyone in between. Combined, we have tremendous healthcare, management, and business development experience. We value everyone's unique employment path that brought you into the Physician Liaison field. We especially welcome talks that showcase best practices in the four areas of interest: 1) Academic Institutions, 2) Community Hospitals, 3) Children's Hospitals, and 4) Independent Medical Groups.

    Audience Considerations


    When shaping your proposal, please clearly define your audience. If you are submitting a proposal for a plenary talk, please consider the mix of levels of expertise, skill sets, and variety of institutions. Your talk should be relevant to most, if not all, attendees.

    Proposal Review Process

    Proposal selection is based on the following criteria:

      • Addresses at least one of the topics of interest
      • Relevancy and timeliness of the topic
      • Includes at least one presenter from a healthcare organization (hospital/health system or a similar entity)
      • Advances the skills and knowledge of the Physician Liaison profession
      • Demonstrates a best practice and/or innovative idea
      • Case study examples highlight demonstrable organizational impact, clear results, and the "how to's"
      • Provides an applicable takeaway
    Preferred speaker qualifications: current healthcare Physician Liaison, Manager, or Director
